About Elizabeth...

ROOTED IN ZEN. REFINED BY SCIENCE. DELIVERED THROUGH INTENTIONAL TOUCH.

From a very tender age, Elizabeth has always felt the deepest desire to help people and animals heal. She was the child who repeatedly brought home every injured, abandoned or lost animal, seeking guidance from her parents of how she could help. Wally the cat and Rosie the dog, became permanent family members in her childhood, due her innate ability to seek out those in need.

That inner desire led her to careers that followed that same calling, but what makes Elizabeth’s work distinctive now, is not simply what she does, it’s how she does it.

Aquavie was launched in 2008, from a passion of wanting to create a unique and beautiful healing sanctuary on the High Street.  After extensive training in advance skin health and cosmetology, Elizabeth went on to be a renowned facialist in London, with a list of high-profile celebrities and beauty journalists speaking of her talents.  One of her facials was named in the top five facials in the world by Sadie Frost in Harpers Bazaar and she was invited by Decleor to be their guesting facialist at their flagship spa in Mayfair. Word of Elizabeth’s reputation also travelled overseas, which led her to be invited by one of Hollywood’s leading dermatologists to also guest as his lead facialist in his luxurious clinic in Beverly Hills. She has contributed as a skincare expert in publications such as Glamour and Hello magazines and has consulted for Skincare brands developing facial treatments.

Before entering the world of wellness, Elizabeth was in the Metropolitan Police. Thirteen years of serving London offered a profound and unfiltered understanding of human vulnerability - witnessing how stress, trauma and the sometimes harshness of life can imprint not only in the mind, but also the body.

Alongside this, Elizabeth has undertaken over twenty years of spiritual studies, her first teacher was Rev Beth Atkins. And notably the last eight years under the guidance of a Zen Master (Daizan Roshi), practising within both the Rinzai and Soto Zen Buddhist traditions. As part of this lineage-based practice, she has taken the Zen precepts and committed to life long training with her teacher to become a Zen Buddhist teacher herself. This requires her to attend extended silent, formal retreats (sesshin) with Daizan, and to also have a continued daily meditation practice.

This depth of formal lay training is exceptionally rare within the wellness industry, where such principles are often referenced but seldom embodied through lived practice. It offers Elizabeth a grounded and authentic understanding of stillness, awareness and the subtle movement of energy within the human form - bringing a level of depth to her work that extends far beyond technique and ambient surroundings alone.

Through her Zen journey, and a pivotal point of awareness within that path, Elizabeth’s capacity to work as a Reiki Practitioner has deepened considerably. This has refined her ability to work with energy in a way that is more attuned, more embodied, and more deeply supportive of her clients.

It also enables her to work with a deep respect for the nervous system, recognising true skin health and inner healing cannot occur unless we recognise the important role our nervous system impacts our overall wellness. Each of Elizabeth’s treatments are therefore designed to support gentle regulation - through intentional pace, considered touch, and an environment that allows the body to soften.

For over two decades, rather than following trends or looking outward for inspiration, Elizabeth has always been guided by an internal compass - refining her treatments through observation, experience and a deep respect for the body’s own innate intelligence. Her clients often describe her treatments as transformative - not dramatic or forceful, but in a way that feels subtle, lasting and deeply supportive.

Due to the demands of running a successful spa business, Elizabeth only works on Fridays and Saturdays in treatment at Aquavie.  As well as guesting as the Master Facialist at Dr Raquel’s Skin and Medical Cosmetic’s Clinic in Kingshill on Wednesdays.
